GACL Confirms Transfer of Immigration Officer Over Viral “Breakfast” Extortion Video

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has confirmed that the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) officer captured in a viral video demanding money from a passenger for “breakfast” has been officially transferred away from the airport.

The development comes as airport authorities and security agencies ramp up efforts to clamp down on unprofessional conduct, extortion, and unapproved solicitation by personnel operating within the country’s aviation terminals.

The circulation of the viral video sparked widespread public outrage, prompting immediate administrative notice. According to GACL, management took note of the footage showing the immigration officer soliciting funds from a traveler under the guise of asking for “breakfast”.
In response to the incident, the Ghana Immigration Service acted promptly, confirming that the implicated officer has been removed and transferred from the airport facility.
